By Way of Introduction

For months, I suggested to Dave and Lindsay, two close friends of mine from college, that we start this. I figured a gay guy in Manhattan, a diehard Brooklyn-ite, and a sports fanatic in Queens would have amusingly divergent tastes where movies were concerned. And we do. But, there's also some overlap. And we share a common approach to film culture — keep it light and humorous.

The goal was to have this up and running by the Oscars, and we've just made it. The blog might have been my idea, but without Dave's coaxing this never would have taken off.

So, what can you expect? Reviews, mostly, and the occasional news item. There might be a disproportionate amount of Hugh Jackman coverage, but that's why we've got Dave, right? We might delve into a serious review from time to time, but it's our goal to keep it light and funny.

We've also got a few ideas brewing for recurring series. Lindsay and I will team up occasionally to translate one of our favorite weekend rituals — downing a Long Island iced tea or two and stumbling into the newest Twilight release or similarly terrible fare — into blog form. We'll each write periodically about watching a movie we're embarrassed not to have seen (at the top of my list: Jurassic Park) and, perhaps, movies were embarrassed to have seen (Dave, I'm told, has seen The Lizzy Maguire Movie).

At any rate, bear with us while we find the right balance and continue to fine-tune the blog's look. Next up: our Oscar picks.
